PublicSpaces Lab Releasing fine electronica since 2007

PublicSpaces Lab
2009:2010

The time of the year as arrived to make a balance from the year that is almost ending and, more importantly, look into the year ahead. It was an amazing year for us at, what we all came to call, the lab. We feel that 2009 was the year that we grew up as a netlabel and for that we have to thank, first of all, to all of those that kept giving us their support and feedback and made us understand our mistakes and flaws that we  tried to work on them to the best of our ability.Without those who listen we could not have grown. Without those who pick up our releases, promote them, talk about them, make some of the tracks part of their podcasts, compilations we would not be able to reach a even more larger audience.

But what would a netlabel be without music? Without the talent of all of those that have chosen in the past year to trust us with their work? We can’t thank enough to all the artists that we have featured in 2009. You all have become a part of this extended family and that is what we want the lab to be: a family connected by music. You, the artists, are the ones that are helping to shape what we are as a netlabel; you are the ones that with every release, idea or concept that you send to us make everyone at the lab feel privileged to be able to share your work with the rest of the world and, without a doubt, we often feel privileged to be able to listen to it before anyone else does. [Running a netlabel has its advantages after all ;-) ]

But there is more to be thankful for: When we decided to invite Tony “Pure Tone” and Nick Maxwell to write some posts we couldn’t imagine how that would become such an important part of the lab‘s identity. On the other hand, we admit that the Editor’s Corner was not as successful as we wanted it to be but we are not giving up that easily… which takes us to

2010

We will be off for almost two weeks and we will return with a release that we have already listened to and are totally delighted about: PS015 Various Artists – Number Stations, curated by Jon Sykes a.k.a. Made by Robot, will be released on January 15th and that is what we call a great jump start into a new year.

2010 will bring more releases, more collaborations and some surprises that we are working on and will let you know as soon as we have all the details. Our model as a netlabel will not change that is for sure: we will keep releasing the music we like from artists we respect and that we believe in.

We thank you ALL for being a part of our 2009 and we look forward to share our/your music, but not only, in 2010.

Alex, Fernando & Jens
